Vast white sand beaches to explore, turquoise waters filled with exotic fish, breathtaking sunsets, dinners under the stars… let’s pack our bags!
Even if you don’t have a tropical getaway on the horizon, we’ve put together a list of our favourite island destinations to help you through those chilly winter nights.
1. The Maldives
Not much leaves us speechless, but the ridiculously beautiful turquoise waters of the Maldives truly do defy adequate descriptors. We’re huge fans of this tropical paradise — 26 ring-shaped atols made up of more than 1,000 coral islands. With breathtaking blue lagoons, jaw-dropping coral reefs and pristine beaches, the Maldives seduce you with their natural beauty. But it’s not all perfect sunsets and pristine views… there’s also spectacular snorkeling, diving and other water activities. The hotels rank among the world’s best, many featuring over-water bungalow suites with private plunge pools. And, of course, foodies will be in heaven with the Maldives’ world-class dining options.
When we’re craving a Hawaiian getaway, Kuau is our go-to. The northern most of the Hawaiian Islands, Kauai is often referred to as the garden island for its lush emerald beauty. Tropical rainforests, cascading waterfalls, jagged cliffs, sandy beaches, and forking rivers offer endless options for hiking, kayaking, snorkeling, ziplining, or just relaxing on the beach. This island’s laid-back atmosphere and rich culture makes it truly timeless experiences that allows us to totally unplug from the stresses of modern life while still indulging in first-class luxury.

A spicy prawn curry and an ice-cold beer as we look out at a perfect sunset over the Indian Ocean. That’s the Mauritius we love, a tropical island republic off the southeastern coast of Africa. Home to impeccable beaches, fantastic divining and snorkeling spots, five-star resorts and boutique hotels, and ridiculously good restaurants, Mauritius checks all the boxes for an unforgettable island adventure.
4. Cape Verde Islands
Known for its Creole Portuguese-African culture, traditional morna music and numerous beaches, Cape Verde is a volcanic archipelago of 10 islands off the northwest coast of Africa. The sun shines 350 days a year on Cape Verde, so a relaxing beach vacation is practically guaranteed. Book an island-hopping experience, explore Cape Verde’s vibrant musical culture, or just spend afternoons sailing and relaxing on pristine beaches.

5. Koh Samui
The second-largest island in Thailand, and the largest island in the Chumphon Archipelago of more 80 islands (many deserted) which form the Ang Thong National Marine Park, Koh Samui is a kayaking and snorkeling paradise. A sleek hybrid of adventure travel and modern luxury, we like to can spend mornings swimming and exploring, afternoons at the spa, and evenings sampling some of the finest foods in the world. Spend a day with the locals by sampling street-side food stalls beyond the beach, visit Buddhist temples nestled among lesser-known back streets, and seek out authentic Samui family-run seafood restaurants.
6. Galápagos Islands
For wildlife lovers, the Galápagos Islands offer an unbelievable ecological adventure. Home to a vast number of species, many found nowhere else on the planet, the Galápagos Islands are made up of 13 major islands and 7 smaller islands.
